About Ironvane

Home›About

A raised Louisiana house with a dark standing-seam metal roof in low evening sun A metal brake bending a roofing panel under a single work light in a fabrication shop

Since 1996

One truck, then two, then a brake of our own.

Ironvane started with one truck, one crew and a rule: do the job well enough that nobody has to ring back angry. Everything since has been in service of keeping that rule as the company got bigger.

The biggest change was buying our own brake. Bending panels to the length of the run means no lap joint halfway up a slope, and it means a colour match on the porch that came off the same coil as the main roof. It is a small thing that shows up every time the light goes low.

What we are trying to be

The roofer people call second, after the first estimate did not add up, and then keep calling.

Who we are not

Not a storm-chase operation. We are here in February, which is when the leaks people ignored in September turn up.

  • Standing seam
  • Shingle
  • Storm and claims
  • Low slope
  • Gutters

Who turns up.

A short list on purpose. Every name here is on the payroll, which is the whole answer to the subcontractor question.

Leadership

The same names since 1996

Two of the three people who started the company are still on roofs. The third answers the phone.

Project managers

One contact per job

The person who quoted your roof is on site the day it starts and walks the punch list at the end.

Our own crews

Employed, not subcontracted

The crew list is short on purpose. You get the same faces from tear-off to final sweep.

Storm and claims

Photographs first

The people who document damage the way an adjuster reads it, and who meet them on the roof.

Meet the team

Four rules we do not bend.

They cost us work occasionally. That is what makes them worth writing down.

  1. 01

We tell you when the roof is fine

Plenty of inspections end with us saying there is nothing to do yet. That call costs us a job and buys the next one.

  2. 02

Every line has a reason next to it

No package tiers, no good-better-best. If a line is on the estimate, the reason it is there is written beside it.

  3. 03

    The photographs are yours

You get the full set from the inspection whether or not you hire us, including the slopes with nothing wrong.

  4. 04

Nothing gets signed at the door

After a storm we will tarp first and talk later. Anything that assigns your claim to a contractor can wait.

Have a look at the roof first.

We will photograph it in the light that shows the damage and tell you what we see, in writing, whether or not there is a job in it.
